I bought these three 7" wood framed porcelain plaques. The frames are cracked, but I think that adds to the vintage beauty. The only thing I could find on the company history was 1950s 1960s home Decore. There items seem to sell pretty well these days. What are your thoughts.

Not selling in my area. However, what sells well on-line doesn't necessarily sell locally. I have a whole backlog of merchandise for eBay someday that has no interest locally.

Yeah, I was just looking at Ebay completed listings.

Cannot help with sales info--just iconography. The second image is based on Angelica Kauffman's painting of Jupiter (disguised as Diana) seducing Callisto. There is a verison in St. Petersburg (Florida) Museum of Art (attached below) and Wikipedia shows another from Christie's in 2015 (no info on current collecton). It was reproduced on decorative items (esp. china), but often omiting Jupter's eagle, which confuses the subject. Here the same three images are on china plates: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1221420265/set-of-three-vintage-hammersleycobone.

I have it on a pin that came out of my grandmother's costume jewelry box (probably from the "dress up" box she kept for children.) I wore it when I lectured on Kauffman. Kauffman, Jupiter & Callisto, St Petersburg, FL 100 adj color .jpg

If one of them is after a famous painting, odds are the other two would be also. Maybe?

I am sure they are after 18th century paintings or other art works, but I am a 15th century specialist. (I recognized the Kauffman because I saw it in St. Pete & remembered my grandmother's pin. I also have done some Callisto research in relation to a 16th cen drawing.) My guess is that your pic 4 (Cupid + 2 figures) may also be after Kauffman, but the one with 3 figures (center figure reclining) & sheep strikes me as a different artist--maybe because the figures wear 18th century dress, rather than classicizing costumes. I tried running both through Google lens & found other repros on china, but no mention of the original artist. That is difficult because style is so changed in china painting reproductions.

I am interested in Kauffman repros on china because I have seen so many for sale online where the sellers have no idea of the original iconography.

Maybe someone else with more detailed knowledge of 18th century paintings (or who just happened to see them in a museum or book) will recognize the other two. I would be interested.

By the way, you have helped me too. I went through Wendy Roworth's Angelica Kauffman book looking (unsuccessfully) for your other image & found an image after Kauffman that corresponds to the image on a teacup that I inherited. I had already recognized the subject, but had not realized that the composition stemmed from a Kauffman design.

I kept searching and found a reference to your pic 5 (Cupid + 2 figures) as an "Angelica Kauffman scene."

It is no longer online so probably sold.

The more I look at the image, the more I think it is after Kauffman and possibly another version of Jupiter (as Diana) & Callisto--but without his eagle I cannot be certain.

I also found many objects with the same image but no ID of original artist or subject.

As for the image with 3 figures in 18th century dress & sheep, I found several citing "Fragonard" or "Fragonard style" and one stating it was "after Jean-Antoine Watteau." I have not been able to verify either using image searches, but my personal library does not include monographs or "complete works" volumes on either artist.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Wonderfully informative posts, @Iconodule -- I'm glad that I opened this thread.

@916Bulldogs123 , this won't give you much more information, but will post a link anyway. It's from an old Harry Rinker on Collectibles column (2012). This was the most I found on the company from a brief search.
https://www.harryrinker.com/col-1321.html (It is the third Q&A down the column.)
