Hi all! Picked a lot up at auction recently that had a mixture of older purses, gloves, beaded clothing pieces in it etc. The lot appears to date from the early 1900s-1930ish. I'm hoping you can tell me how this longer piece with black sequin end would have been worn? It doesn't seem to sit well as a scarf or belt but I'm really not sure. All suggestions welcome! It measures 42"L. I've added a pic of a few of the other clothing pieces/adornments in the lot for context. Thanks :)

My first reaction (before I even read your notes) was that I thought it was a front "decor" item on a 1920's flapper style dress. The long strap attached to the front neckline and stretching down to being affixed at the front of a long waistline. Perhaps, side ruching pulled from the sides to end beneath the sequin half moon shape. It doesn't look like it was used. Even the two pins just look like they were placed there, but not used.

I'm kind of envisioning that first dress on the top left - only it coming straight down from the center neckline. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Interested to hear about other possibilities...

What do you think of something like the third dress on the bottom left, the blue-grey number? I imagine the sequined part could sit on the hip.

I actually can see it worn at the back... with some loose draping coming up to meet it and it looking kind of like a mock bustle...

The strap around the hips I could live without but I do love a cloche hat. My hair won't fit under one, but the style is neat.
