IMG_3381.jpeg I have my eye on a piece of Paris porcelain coming for sale soon. It has the mark circled in the photo from iChaffer’s book of marks which was first published in the 1860s . The maker was then unknown. Does anyone know if the maker has subsequently been identified?

I don't think much of many "AI" generated Google searches. This is what came up when I searched and so far hasn't been very fruitful.

I pass this AI info on with little confidence.

"The mark "MD" with a floral or leafy motif is associated with Maison Dihl et Guérhard, a prominent porcelain manufacturer in Paris, France, during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
    Explanation:
    • Maison Dihl et Guérhard:
This factory was established in Paris in 1781 by Christophe Dihl and his wife, Louise-Françoise-Madeleine Guérhard. It was known for producing high-quality hard-paste porcelain, often competing with the Sèvres manufactory.
    • Markings:
The "MD" mark, sometimes accompanied by various symbols or monograms, was one of the marks used by the Maison Dihl et Guérhard to identify their porcelain pieces. The specific design in the image, featuring the intertwined branches, is a known variation of their mark.
    • Period:
The factory operated until around 1828, and pieces bearing the "MD" mark date from this period, reflecting the Neoclassical and Empire styles popular at the time."
