Also imo the motif might be 宝尽し/Takara-zukushi?some of the objects match with this one b8008178f392f07472ba092ee8720e20.jpeg

Also want to share this photo of recent arrivals… look so great when put together, tho from completely different cultures! 0829d4430a8921d35642e625645328e7.jpeg

Another perfect piece, shammie. Beautiful and subtle.
But are there enough on yours to make it Takarazukushi? Takarazukushi items are usually scattered all over an item, like on the comb you showed.

    Different cultures, one world.:)

Not the thickest comb in my collection :D but it’s easier to make with wooden ones, and also surprisingly light weight

https://www.suntory.co.jp/sma/collection/data/detail?id=3157 This one also described as Takarazukushi which has less items presented than usual ones? So maybe mine could be, as long as some typical objects are included… just from a less rich household :p

Oh, interesting. Thanks for showing it.:)
That will be it!:joyful: I guess auspicious items will be just as auspicious when there are just a few.;)

I think it is just an aesthetic choice. Even though one cannot afford all the actual objects, it won’t cost much to paint a few more on this comb:cat: the maker or the commissioner might just prefer a quieter, simpler Takarazukushi layout!

Less is more.;) Having fewer objects looks very balanced on your comb, simple perfection.

An intriguing aside; 7 of the 12 have the tasseled cords, as lanyards. That has to be significant, 'tho I've never seen such 'til now...thanks!

Well spotted! I don’t know if there’s any cultural significance behind this, some of them used for binding, some attached to the handle, but they work well for adding some dynamic flows

And they're pretty. I bet there's another reason, but "for pretty" is good enough for now.
