    I can't take a good photo of it. It's 16 x 20 canvas in a very nice frame.

The only thing I don't like (I can't get a photo of it) in red below the collar the artist either tried to sign S D or that's their actual initials. Whoever did it, they did a great job.

I found it in a thrift shop. It was expensive for a thrift shop. But, for an actual oil painting it was pretty cheap, and I got 25% off for being old. Whew hew, at least I made it to old.

can i ask the reason why its so hard to get a picture of (out of interest)
and thats not necessarily meaning its a bad thing ;)

it looks from here that he's shining a light in the dark

like he's been startled in the night

    i like it

The main reason I can't take a good photo of it is, I'm the worst photographer in the world.

The second is, the canvas around his face is very dark and I took the picture by setting it near a small light.

That ghostly orb is just that, it's from the camera, not the canvas.

I should never be allowed to touch a camera, not even a point and shoot.

taking a picture at day time might help, looks like you shot it in the closet of a gothic castle......at night............with a candle :)

The right eye (to me) looks demonstrably larger than the left one, considering the subject matter, surreal & somewhat grotesque (Edgar Allen Poe) may be what the artist was aiming at.
Can we see the back of the piece ?
Can you set your camera (phone) to 'night'/low light mode' ?

Are you sure that's not meant to be Don Quixote? Dalí never appeared without groomed hair, even in old age.

That's being kind. The only thing I'm worse at is drawing.
The original owner had it framed and there's paper on the back. I want to leave it as is. They also attached a frame lamp at the top. I would guess because of how dark the piece is.
    That's amazing. Thank you.
That's definitely Dali. If it's not, he was certainly the model for it. I got lucky. It was still in the bin to be put out.

At this same place a few years ago, I bought a portfolio of 26 b/w prints, 6 color prints and an etching for $1.50. I sold the etching for $1000 and occasionally put up the prints for sale. I have a complete set of Dali's Divine Comedy. This will be hung above the frame I put those in.
