    He's ~12 1/2" high, an' weighs ~2.5 kg.
I'm easily confused about terminology relating to Japanese porcelain. I've seen similar to this called Kutani an' Satsuma; the treatment (vivid colors applied by slip leaving a tactile surface) seems to agree with Moriage...but I would appreciate a bit of expert illumination about the subtle edges of all those descriptors in relation to this old friend. Additionally, if the marks on the bottom can be translated, that would be a huge bonus. All comments an' suggestions are most welcome. Thanks for lookin'!

    'Xiānshēng?'-it means Mister honorable ancestor.
Nope-That's Jon Gnagy, he got a TV show in 1946 and taught folks how to draw. Believe it's one of the longest running shows in PBS and/or television history.
PS-Those tricky folks over at public broadcasting- what'll they think of next !?
PSS-Our Savior Mr. Nagy, I picture as a version of Lao Tzu in a leisure suit trying to please 3 billion nitwits like me who didn't take Mandarin in school.
