Artist signatures - the importance of such

    I hope you can open & read the attached two page article from a colored pencil magazine I subscribe too.

    She is correct that people should sign their works, and legible is better than not. However, humans have always simplified their "mark" so I would say if you know your mark is simplified or tough to read, you should print your full name and possibly more info (date, title, contact info etc) on the back.

    That she is complaining about this after deciding to do title cards blind with all that walking... That kinda sounds like she could have approached it differently. Perhaps she should have submissions attach an info form to each submission like other shows?

    I didn't love her individually shaming a couple of artists (Jennifer, the abstract corner signer, etc.). She can get her point across without embarrassing her submission artists to the whole community. That's unkind.

    and all the tourist , factory paintings we see here.......
    those signatures....are less than important.... they're an unwanted distraction.. imo
