I managed to get a short break from looking after elderly parents and got to a car boot sale. Glad to be back here
I think I found the most unlikely treasure in the bottom of a dirty bag of bits of scrap porcelain, broken glass and rubbish. If you have ever visited a British car boot sale you will know what I mean. For £1 it was mine!
I was doubtful that it was anything interesting but on the inside it is marked Christiania. This led me to other bracelets attributed to David Andersen.
It has an old repair(now failed) that has obliterated any other marks but do you think this is enough to make the link that it is David Andersens work? If so I will get it repaired.
I have included some photos of other bracelets on Google for reference. Thankyou for any thoughts or observations :)

Not an expert in David Andersen but I would say this is a close cousin to the link!

Great to find a treasure like this while taking a short break from helping.

Obviously wait for others, but design, clasp closure, markings all match up quite well!

    I think you've got a winner! :singing:

It's certainly enough to make you wonder. The pin hinge puts me in mind of Turkish work, but ... where else was it used once upon a time? It's a very old-style clasp.

Great find K, and good to see you taking some time for yourself. Also good to see you back here.:kiss:

I would say it is indeed a David Andersen piece, and a beauty. Based on traditional buttons and the like.
Kristiania is the old name for Oslo, I guess Christiania is the Latinized version.
    Tagging @DragonflyWink .:)
In many parts of Europe, North Africa, and Asia. Turkey is in Asia and Europe, so it was influenced from two sides.;)

Little doubt that it's David Andersen, the serifed font 'D. or DAVID ANDERSEN' with 'CHRISTIANA' mark (as on your bracelet), often with a date included, was used from the firm's founding in 1876 until their 'hammer & tongs' mark came into use in 1888.

Regarding the town name, it was originally 'Oslo' until rebuilt after a fire in 1624 and renamed 'Christiania' after King Christian IV, the old 'Oslo' remained as a village. In 1877 Norway changed the 'Ch' spellings to 'K' nationwide, but frankly not everyone adhered to that and both spellings of 'Christiania/Kristiania' were common until the name-change to 'Oslo' in 1925. Aside from their use of 'Christiania' on their goods, David Andersen typically also used it in their advertising, but would occasionally use 'Kristiania', both spellings were used by other makers.

Thankyou so much! I was amazed when I tracked the name down that it was likely D.A!
Fantastic information in your post, Thankyou very much. I had no idea that it is modern day Oslo.

Here's an 1885 ad noting their filigree jewelry:
