Grabbed these two on the way home today. They are obviously meant to hold something. Not sure what though. I thought maybe playing cards but not quite the right dimensions. Maybe game pieces, trinkets or cigarettes? Container bits measure 78mm x 73mm on one and 80mm x 65mm on the other.

they look like they might belong to a desk set.......... so maybe a catch all..... but I don't really think matches..

Possibly but why have the lid if the contents extend out of the top? Makes the lid a bit redundant. Not sure what 'match safe' means either

I'm just looking for complimentary stuff to suggest it was part of a set....

the pic above.... I don't guarantee it's use... or if it had a lid...or if a seller found a good use for it cuz they don't know better............

a match safe.........Match safes were designed to hold friction matches.

    and usually metal...

Interesting they they've called it Cambridge ware. Gives it some identity.

My message was cut short for some reason. I thought that photo of the matches was an eye shadow kit.

looks like a desk set cigarette box to me ( unfiltered :) )

cigarettes were shorter too in the '30s

( could do with a wet cloth and a coat of polish ....

Thanks. Haven't they sold that white dot yet? Cambridge wear seems to be have more square blocks whereas mine has more lines.
