    Hi!

Can someone tell me what this is? And where it might be from? It pulls apart and has a knife.

    I'd say Indonesia.....
and since you say it has a knife....... I'd agree , it's a knife.

If u could provide more details , like..

    where u got it from,
    what size is it,
    what it's made of,
what it looks like opened up,
if there are any marks on the blade,

then our members may be able to provide you with more information.....

Help us, to help you !!!

Agree, it is the same style as a Borneo blowgun, so it could be from Borneo.

Possibly Dayak? More pictures and sizes would help.

Yes Dayak, tribal Borneo. There are several subgroups, but they are all Dayak.

    Hi everyone! Here’s another picture!

It was among a storage unit we purchased and it was just about the coolest thing I’ve ever seen but I wanted to know more about it. It’s about 13 inches long.

The workmanship makes me think it is a tourist type piece. Some of the Dayak weapons have outstanding workmanship, and this is crude in comparison. Then there is the blade, or lack of....................?

And not a very dangerous one at that. But still cool looking

No doubt about it, letter writing is not traditionally Dayak.;)
Those bone blowguns are also souvenirs, as are most Dayak blowguns in the West.

Borneo 'keris' are worse, they are a concoction made up for Western eyes and wallets. Because all Indonesians had keris, right?:rolleyes: They took Javanese or Madurese blades and put them in a Dayak-made sheath with monkey hair and teeth dangling from it. Poor blades.:(
