    i would think pottery judging by the base, some kind of painted ceramic though for sure

    hmmm.....could be stone though actually looking at those lines around the eyes in that last pic (thats some heavy pressure carving/sanding)

    @eastcoastcurious You might be able to tell more conclusively if it's stone or ceramic by how heavy it is, by tapping your fingernail against it and listening to the sound that makes, or by seeming temperature: stone will feel cooler to the touch.

    I think @i need help and @Roaring20s have pegged it. The cylindrical bit on the bottom of yours would have fit into the jar (now missing).
