I know nothing about embroidery, so I was wondering if it is handmade? Age if possible, may be modern im not sure.
I tried to take close up pictures, hope they come out ok. The glass is broken, worth it to get it refrained?
    • As always I appreciate the help!

It's Chinese and was made to hang on a wall. I think it was done by machine.

I’m no expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but at least some of the work was, I think, done by hand. The stitches binding the edges and dividing lines of the major designs would be faster and easier for me to do by hand than by machine.

I definitely don’t know enough to say if it would make sense financially to pay someone else to replace the glass, but it’s a pretty thing, and it would be a shame to toss it.

Technically, you can go to a glass place and have them cut a piece of regular stuff to size and then re-assemble it yourself. Of course, I would always recommend getting the proper UV-resistant glass from a framer if you want it to keep it's color, but yeah that can be pricey for a piece you don't love.

Wow! LOVE that piece! I would definitely have it re glassed! Yes, I think Chinese. I think it would be worth it for proper UV resistant glass. Without seeing the back, I still feel pretty strongly that it is hand done. There is SUCH an amazing variety of stitches and fibers that I think it would be hard to replicate by machine! The black and white floral band is certainly machine, as for the tan/silver fabric "frame" - although it could be hand, that is more likely just decorative fabric.
I think you got a keeper!!!
    Cheerio,
