Just found this 16 inch tall Kwan Yin Blanc de Chine (Guanyin, Quan Yin, or Kwan-Yin) for 7 bucks.Normally I don't 'kiss n tell' prices, but IMHO that's cheeep !
Chuffed by the price-but have no idea re the quality. I see scads of them online for anywhere from 50 (or less) up to 500.
I'm guessing this is a tourist piece 1950's to now.
Any observations about this particular one ? As always-Thanks for the help.

Yes, indeed...especially for what seems to be a slip-cast body, at least.

Thanks AJ,it's a cutie for the price. After study, I'm guessing it's more modern and perhaps made in Hong Kong (?).
They seem to go for around $70 online-the higher prices ($500 for this exact piece) are what the magicians on First Dibs are asking.
The really superb Blanc de Chine pieces have workmanship and details that are mind-blowing-still simple but sublimely done.
PS-Even the cheaper pieces have an elegance-there seems to be a standard below which they won't go ?

For $7, that's a must-have! Lovely modeling on that one.

Thanks Kent ! The funny thing about most Chinese Bland de Chine is it's uniformly decent craftsmanship. The real museum pieces though, are absolutely over the top- like the diff btw excellent and exquisite jewelry.

The base gives it away as 20th century but still a nice item.
