I just read on HGTV dot com that thanks to Erin Napier, the plate wall is coming back. For those who missed it, a plate wall is where you hang several decorative plates on your wall (along with other stuff) as decor. I used to have one in my old dining room. I think I will look into another one. We moved the dining room to a different room a few years back when we made the old dining room into a home office/den. I think I know just the plates.

If I were still selling on eboo, I would jump on this trend for at least while all my excess plates last.

I always hated plate walls because the ones in my family were souvenir tacky designs or just unattractive decor stuff.

My grandmother had a rail around the top of the kitchen and she once confided in me that she had only ever bought a couple and the rest were gifts people thought she'd want. She was too nice to say "no". One year while visiting me and my siblings found a naked fantasy lady plate at the thrift and smuggled it into her collection. Days later and she still hadn't noticed so we had to ask her to tell us about some of the plates. She thought it was hilarious. We passed that plate around as a Christmas gag gift for years.

Now I've seen some really stunning plate designs and some fun plate walls so I think I wouldn't be opposed to doing one. Kitchen seems the obvious thing but I'm wondering about in the bathroom since the plates can withstand humidity with ease. Unfortunately I only have one art plate so far so not enough for a little wall collection. I keep an eye out though! :cyclops:

I have a plate wall in my foyer. They are about 30 years old. More like advertising plates. While the construction people are working next door, they knocked a couple of plates off the wall with the hammering. I also have a plate that is also a clock. Was a clock, it stopped working.

My parents had a plate wall in the kitchen featuring Spanish Talavera tapas plates with Spanish sayings. It actually looked quite nice, because they were all the same style and in classic Talavera colours.

Yes, you're probably right. But I'm a chump for a pretty plate and I was delighted to see the article. I took all of my plates down from the walls after we did a major remodel. I just needed a bump to get me started again, but this time just one wall. I don't like any of those tacky souvenir plates, I try to hang the best ones I can find. I think it's fun!

Those hangers have ruined a few plates. But if you get the right ones with padding on the hooks and then hang the plates and leave it alone, you should be OK.

I would like to hang this plate somewhere (it's already drilled on the back), but it's kind of fancy schmacy and I don't know where to put it. It's a Limoges Pouyat plate sold at Wannamaker's. I bought it at a very good price cuz plates were "out" at the time.

Don't know if this really qualifies as a "plate wall" but I display a few of my Michigan-related vintage souvenir plates on a 45-inch IKEA Mosslanda picture ledge in my kitchen. IKEA sells these picture ledges in other lengths and colors, too.

I have never heard of a "plate wall" although I have plates decorating my walls. Actually, I like them better than hanging artwork.

My grandmother had souvenir plates on a rail in her dining room. I think my mother bought most of them as souvenirs.
