DON'T CHEAT and do a reverse image search. I paid $1 for this 1944 awful condition magazine, specifically for this pin up. Which is also not in excellent condition. But, when I get her autograph, this is what it's being matted with. She made some movies around this time, and in the early 50s that shows what a stunner she was. If her career died off, no one would know her. But, she's forever known for a TV role. Even if you're younger than me (most people are), you know her.
I remember the TV show you mention, and I remember my mother telling me at the time that this actress was quite a starlet in her younger days... I was shocked and found it hard to believe, LOL!
Looks like a young Linda Darnell to me-around the time she worked with Fonda & John Ford in 'My darling Clementine". Didn't Google-so it's just a guess.Plus don't think Darnell did a ton of TV.
I know who she is!!! I did not have to look this up. I watch lots of old movies and I recognized her right away. She did lots of movies before she took on that TV show. The same thing happened to Agnes Moorehead. She was a great movie actress, but in the late 60s, took on that TV show and is forever remembered as Endora, which I read she did not like.
I strongly agree with Agnes on this -rather be remembered for The Mercury Theater and 'Citizen Cane' than 'Scooby-Doo'. Although must admit-as a 14 year old boy,I never minded looking at Elizabeth Montgomery.
Yvonne De Carlo aka Lily Munster Moorehead was an excellent actress. She was not a traditional beauty. In her younger years, she could turn some heads. Montgomery is up there in natural beauties. This is my favorite Christmas photo - I wish I owned this.
I loved the theme song from Bewitched. She had a hard life. Her dad disapproved of her greatly in the Bewitched character and let her know. I use to watch it when it came on, even with the 2 Darrens. Shame she was so sick and passed on early.
I own the entire series on DVD. I don't even consider chapter selecting by the theme. I love it also. The entire show is excellent. Though I can understand how annoyed some get over her fawning over her husband and not herself. I don't know much about her private life. But, when parents disapprove of their children's choices, they have different ways of showing it. If they were still alive, and saw how immortal Bewitched has become, they'd know how wrong they were. She did die way too young.
I read that Grace Kelly's father also did not think much of her when she made movies. But when she married into royalty, he suddenly liked her more. And Billy Joel's father was terrible to him as well. That song Vienna Waits is about his dad who left the family and went to Vienna. Years later when Billy was a star then he sort of embraced him.
Actually, she didn't marry into royalty as the Grimaldis are noble, not royal. Princes and princesses, not kings and queens. Debora
