I take it that most of you are old enough to get the Twin Peaks reference?

Anyway, this is a "log lamp" with two burners, made in the U.S. by Spencer with a patent date of July 24, 1876. It's silver, with a "pivoting" oil reservoir with two burners, so that the light dispersion can be controlled to some small extent. The original satin shades are a particularly welcome touch!

So this should wrap it up for our acquisitions from the historic lighting show. I hope you've enjoyed it!

Absolutely! The lamp is beautiful, but it wouldn't be the same without the softly flowing shades.

NICE! (both the Twin Peaks reference and the lamp.) It sure beats a Leg Lamp.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

    that's wonderful..!

    but I have to ask.........
that's so clean and sparkly ...... it looks like a band new repro...!

You know here... with older metals.....do I polish ..... clean but not polish..... keep the patina....... use a product .... don't u dare touch it....... u know the drill !!!

    So, what's the deal here..????

As far as I can tell this is brass plated with silver. That may have been the “deluxe” model or someone plated it after 1876. The gentleman I bought it from polishes the lamps he sells until they shine like mirrors. BUT…..there are little scratches and imperfections to be seen, they just don’t come across in the photo.

Oh, and as far as I know Spencer lamps weren’t reproduced. At least, I’ve never seen one.

I bet the silvering is nickel. Silver would have rubbed off by now.

I was at a bar last weekend that was ALL David Lynch memorabilia. Different episodes of Twin Peaks were playing on different TVs around the place.

    I definitely have!

    Perhaps ...

“The beautiful thing about treasure is that it exists. It exists to be found. How beautiful it is to find treasure. Where is the treasure, that when found, leaves one eternally happy? I think we all know it exists. Some say it is inside us — inside us one and all. That would be strange. It would be so near. Then why is it so hard to find, and so difficult to attain?”
