Couple of questions. Pretty sure Egyptian Revival, 1920s or so, same decoration on the both sides. What do I call this piece? The circles on the base almost remind me of a pot that would be heated up, but thinking not that unless a bowl went inside or something. It is footed, approx 11 to edge of handles.

Maybe green paint at one time??

Some oxidation, but I think it's a pretty cool piece. Would make an amazing plant holder, but any ideas what it originally would have been used for? Thanks.

"The Benedict Manufacturing Company of East Syracuse, NY purchased the Onondaga Metal Shops in October 1906, continuing the business in the name Benedict Art Studios. The next year, in 1907, Benedict Art Studios came out with a stunning 80-page trade catalogue featuring halftone photographs of more than 150 different forms of Arts and Crafts metalwork in hand-wrought iron, brass and copper, including lamps, chandeliers, hanging lanterns, chafing dishes, candlesticks, andirons, and many other articles. As Benedict collectors have known for some time, the quality of Onondaga Metal Shops and early Benedict Art Studios hand-wrought metalwork rivaled that of any other shops, including Gustav Stickley’s Craftsman Workshops in the neighboring town of Eastwood, NY."

Lovely Egyptian piece. The 1907 Benedict catalogs interesting because most of the stuff I've seen by them in shops is stamped w/ cast elements-I'd guess their later pieces.
It's cool to see the earlier pieces which appear to be actually hand formed.

Oh, well found on that catalog! Thank you for directing me to the picture. :)

At this point I think it will be a planter or some catch-all for things.

I never find stuff like this anymore. This was at an estate of a former collector/garage sale gal. She passed sadly, but at a good age. I found it out in the garage.

Thanks for all the eyes on this!

Nice find! Not a form I have seen. Own several pieces in this pattern. Would have snatched it up in a heartbeat.

Cache pot for sure. If you use it for plants, please use a water-tight liner.

@mirana Maybe we could trade something! Potteryplease's story about trading for that CA painting got me thinking about trades.
