I was going through old eboo photos and found this. I kept one copy of the photo from the listing because I just can't keep them all. I found a set of 4 of these cups/saucers at a local auction from an auctioneer who never had anything like this before. He didn't know how spectacular it was. Got all 4 for $40, what a bargain. They sold individually for over $100 each. This was in 2015 before the N. Koreans started going crazy with Haviland and Roses or the price would have been much higher. It was marked Haviland and signed M. Naudin. Feast your eyes!!

Gorg. Just imagine what the rest of the table would have looked like.

N Koreans went crazy with Haviland? That’s the real news here. Where do I sign up to get them some!? I’ll keep my eyes open.

    Those are really beautiful though!

My best bullion cup story….Huge on-site farmhouse auction. No online bidding. Generations of collectors plus original 19th century barn contents. I’m searching the many hundreds and hundreds of box lots. One in the middle of the tables, not under anyone’s watchful eye as it should have been. Full of sterling bullion cups, with their sterling saucers, all with their porcelain liners. I’m super pumped but based on position of table they are on they probably won’t cross the block for like 3-5 hours. A lady sees me checking them out and I think oh great now she’ll be bidding against me. She chats me up, very nice lady. I move on inspecting more lots at the back of the site. Someone else must have seen me snooping in the hidden sterling box it turns out. While I’m in the back not paying attention to the block the lady from a while ago comes and taps me on the shoulder. She tells me the lot I was just checking out is about to cross the block. Someone had grabbed it and requested the auctioneer move it across the block asap. Probably after seeing me take note of it and noticing I was distracted. Luckily I had a scale with me and knew about what the silver was worth already. Even more lucky that the lady not only didn’t care about the silver, but made an extended effort to come alert me. The other bidder bailed out somewhere under $150. I think around $120. It wound up being around $700 in melt that I snagged. That was one of the best auctions I ever attended. Also one of the ones I damaged my car interior at by stuffing it so full. Drove home late at night exhausted from a long day of bidding, massive fishing poles sticking out my car window. I hadn’t even looked at the fishing gear before bidding. It just sold at a no lose price. One ended up having an antique fly reel on it worth around $1,500!

They buy Haviland with pink roses decorations, but not much else. No pink roses, no sale. Look on ebay completed listings under "haviland pink roses". Several years ago they were sniping and doing other mean things to get the items, but now things have settled down a little as more sellers are asking fixed prices which isn't as much fun and no chance for a good deal.

Well I’ll be! For some reason the pink roses is ringing a bell somewhere. I’m off to find the roses, the wonderful roses of pink.

"Drop rose " pattern sells well too, but not the rest. Go figure.

Yes, it does. @J Dagger A word of caution, to make money you have to know what pink roses they're looking for. Baltimore Rose is one pattern I know, but only the variation with all pink roses, not the one with pink and yellow roses or any of the other colors. When people would ask me what to buy, I always said "I'll know it when I see it."

Great to know. I feel like the drop rose pattern might be one I’d be inclined to bring home anyways. It’s a pretty bold and unique looking pattern. I won’t literally run out and look for it but I’ll definitely give a good look at the china when I’m out. Thanks ladies.
