I won this in a online estate auction of a downtown Miami condo being run by MAXBID.

The description said: After Germain Pilon, patinated bronze rendition of the Three Graces. 14in. No authentication

I won it with a final bid of $121. But when I picked it up I started wondering if it was a bronze statue?
It sounds like metal when I tap it with my key.
Googling After Germain Pilon, patinated bronze rendition of the Three Graces, I came across a couple but they were larger + had the foundry name on it.

Are these bronze - or bronze over something? On the single woman there is something white that I thought was from chalk or such, but it didn't come off with a damp towel or even a magic eraser??
Can anyone find another example my size? (It measures 14"T x 6.4"W)
    Thank you!

Can you make a small scratch on the bottom of the base? If yellowish/goldish then Brass (usually)
Is it possible just bronze plated over something?

The white is likely zinc from brass or spelter

A magnet would be my first test to eliminate iron, although bronze contains tin which is mildly magnetic.

Hand painted resin possibly. The area I circled looks to be resin colored?

I was fooled by an auction with a plaster cast covered in various layers of paint made to look like jade. Only when I got it did I realize it was too light and then when I cleaned off the dust with warm water, the top layer of green stain came off. This was before this forum though.

No I didn't - that's why I posted here. I put that up last night when I found out I won - I will remove it (could you make it any bigger?) now; was going yard sale all day

Depends on the laws where you are. Here in the EU it would be false representation, and they would have to refund it. It is defintely resin.
If they value their reputation, they will refund it. This thread is probably all over the internet by now, those Google bots are everywhere.:watching:

Since they called it a "bronze," I think you have a strong argument for getting a refund.

If they had said "bronze finish," you'd be hosed. I think may have thought they were quite tricksy and covering their collective behind with use of "patinated bronze," but it's all about nouns versus adjectives and the noun they used is "bronze".

Although, if "MAXBID" and "MAXSOLD" are the same outfit, you may have an "agreed to terms and conditions" issue.

    https://maxsold.com/terms-and-conditions

"CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller."

Tin has no magnetic attraction what so ever. Bronze shouldn't either.

Most India brass has enough iron in it to be mildly attracted to a magnet. It is rare to see this for brass from any other country.

Doesn't sound promising, but I'd try to ask for refund anyway. I imagine most complaints are about damage discovered after the fact. This wasn't a condition issue or an omission, it was plain wrong advertised information about the material. See what they say at least.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

That sounds like a reasonable way to approach it.
