Imari ? Are these salt bowls?

    Howdy, people! Not sure what these are used for. About three inches long. Any idea who made them? salt.asian6.jpg salt.asian3.jpg salt.asian2.jpg salt.asian5.jpg

    Soy sauce and other sauces. They're sort of Imari colours, but I think Chinese rather than Japanese.

    the charachters look more chinese than japanese, not that im an expert, but i do have a loveaffir with japanese culture and craft~

    No idea what it says but these are Japanese.
    Japanese also use Chinese characters on pottery.

    I can't read it, but sets of 5 are the norm in Japan because of superstition. The word for death and 4 is the same or at least sounds the same.
