    What do you think about the dating of this jug? What is depicted? What are the patterns and ornaments? photo_2025-03-03_18-57-00 (3).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (2).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (3).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (4).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (5).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (6).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57.jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-58 (2).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-58 (3).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-58.jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-57-00 (3).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (2).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (3).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (4).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (5).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57 (6).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-57.jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-58 (2).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-58 (3).jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-56-58.jpg photo_2025-03-03_18-57-00 (3).jpg

It doesn't look Chinese to me. Maybe Middle Eastern?

Thank you, maybe so. But the faces seem to have "Mongoloid" features, plus the lotus position. What does all this mean? What are these clothes?

I don't even know. It seems like something very familiar. But I can't figure out what it is?

The faces are very sketchy, and the lotus position is more Hindu, India etc.
Maybe one of the others has an idea.

I'd have figured India or somewhere else in the vicinity. The metalwork is crude, but not old/crude. IIRC they made pieces in Iran for export that weren't too far off of this one.

According to the seller's legend, the item was found somewhere in the south of Central Asia during the USSR)).But where and how it was found, I don't know)).I bought the item for 5 dollars)).

They probably bought it close to where it was made. If it's copper, you got it for metal weight, so a decent price.

Hmm, well, the item doesn't look like it was made in the 20th century)).

It seems like an older thing. But how much older is hard to say. It's heavy, like bronze or something.

That could be the region of origin, as evelyb suggested.
That fits in with the 'sort of' Persian shape and engraving. Most of Central Asia was once part of greater Bactria/Persia.

His boots look Central Asian to me, so I would say that is indeed the origin. He seems to be holding a sword.

The hat of the standing person on the other side looks like a Kirghiz hat, also from Central Asia.

The neural network writes that this is supposedly the Sagdian culture, 7-9 centuries.

A.I. is making things up again.;)
    - I don't think it is anywhere near that old.
    - It doesn't look like any Sogdian metal items I know.

I wonder what low-grade electrum looks like? The neural network wrote several times that it was supposedly electrum)).Sometimes it wrote copper with gold plating, sometimes brass. I dripped some chromium pickling salt out of curiosity, or maybe I'm doing something wrong, or maybe there really is a lot of silver in the metal. The chromium pickling salt quickly turns bright red. What kind of metal is this? 12312321123213.jpg

And in place of the drop there remains a bright golden spot, as if the color of almost pure gold.I don't know)).

A.I. is no expert, it is just a tool that plucks information from the internet. If it finds useless information, it will give you useless information.

Gold and electrum wouldn't oxidize the way your item has. But if you think your item could be gold or electrum, you can take it to a jeweller to have it tested, just to be sure.
    It looks like brass.
What is that? What do you normally use it for?
