I found this at a thrift store today & was told I could get it for $40.
Is this real or a copy?
Color makes me think of the 60s or 70s?
    Is the price good?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Pierre Cardin is tricky because the designer began licensing so early in his career and never stopped. I do think the bag is genuine and dates to the 1970s when the brand used this version of the logo. (Courtesy of Vintage Fashion Guild.) But I also think $40 may be at the top of its resale value. Have you checked eBay listings? As always, it's helpful for understanding where collector interest lies.

Yes , I couldn't find another like it with the logo. I thought it was a lot too - thank you, Debora!

I haven't either. Maybe his alter ego, Pierre Caroin.;)

I agree that it appears authentic and likely 1970s.
I also agree that $40 is too steep if resale is the intent. If you want to keep and use the bag, see if you can wiggle them down to a more appropriate $30. I love the color!

Definitely too high for this. Vintage bags don't go for as much as they should imo, unless they're high end designer or certain y2k bags like Coach (which blows my mind lolll).

Not a clutch purse because it has a strap. But if the strap is removable it would be a clutch when the strap is off :)

It looks like the strap is permanently on there. Then again, straps get lost early and often, so maybe just as well.

I remember my Mother having this, the strap can be tucked in to make an evening clutch.

Difficult to see in the photos, but it looks like the straps could be removed, I think I see a mechanism of sorts.
