Jade or not Jade? that is the question.

    It is serpentine. Probably a harder type of serpentine often referred to as serpentine jade, a confusing name.
    We don't give values, but now that you know the stone you can check similar items on selling venues.

    Is something going on with the surface? Is it dried out, or supposed to look like that?

    I believe they used a kind of acid to make it look older, perhaps?

    That is the natural look of the stone. Serpentine often has that.

    It was this part which almost looks like something was dripped on this, but could be natural, maybe just oozing out.

    P.S. Do they ever call this "soapstone" or is that a different material?

    Those could be scuff marks.
    That is the same stone.:)
