I hope that you are all well. I picked up a few silver rings and they are all very interesting. I started with this this ring. It is silver with (what I believe to be) a sapphire with 12 diamonds (three in each corner). It weighs 49 grams. There are no apparent stamps. The sapphire is 27mm x 23mm. There is a crescent moon with a star to one side, that I assume points to Islamic provenance, and to the other side crossed swords, which I assume point towards Saudi Arabia (albeit that their is no palm tree).

I was hoping that someone might be able to shed some more light on this ring.

    Many thanks, Adam

Does the stone have a star if you shine a bright light at the top of the stone or go out in clear sky with the sun overhead.

I was thinking the same, late 70s - early 80s.

Right, I'm adjusting my working hypothesis and moving the geography of the ring's origin from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan. The top contenders for the swords point towards Pakistan or Yemen, rather than Saudi Arabia. The combination of the crescent moon and star would "appear" to nudge it towards Pakistan and, in particular, it's military, which carries the emblem of a crescent moon and star on top of the crossover swords.

The journey continues and any help would be much appreciated. It's all just a working hypothesis at this stage.

Whatever its origin, it is an Islamic country. This is a classic Islamic man's ring, with Islamic imagery.
In Islam the sapphire is connected with enlightenment, although generally the clear type of sapphire is meant. Sapphires are mentioned in the Quran.
