    Yours is a copy of 'The Shearing of the Sheep', a 1470 tapestry in the collection of the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels. It appears to be Jacquard-woven rather than hand-woven and most likely woven in Belgium. You can learn more about tapestries here:

    Thank you very much. It has been around in the family for a while and I recently got my hands on it. A bit disappointed that is machine made as I thought although not antique that it was hand made.

    Yours seems to have been a very popular decorative item in its time; there are a lot of similars on offer on the internet.

    Here's the label from one which may give you an idea of what yours is made of. FYI, this company started reproducing tapestries in the 1960s, according to their web site.
