Statue of a girl

  1. Hello again,

This one is also my mother's: a statue of about 30 cm in height. The only "mark" I could find is the 68 at the bottom. Any ideas? Thank you fot your time.

That's a cute dog in the background. Is it a Pug?

As for the piece in question, to my eye it looks like a Japanese figure in the style of a German or similar bisque.

It looks too well decorated and ornate to be Japanese to me. I think most likely continental but pretty much impossible to pin down to a specific maker. Most likely one of a pair.

The mark on the bottom and the white porcelain scream Germany at me, but beyond that I don't know. It's not antique, but she's been around a while. As for the dog, he's species Houndus Chowus, subspecies Feedus Pleasus.

I would guess continental - German or Austrian - based on how the bottom looks and those numbers. The Japanese did make figurines in this taste, but they were usually slip cast.

    Occupied Japan Figurine (30cm h):

I think yours is significantly the nicer.

  9. Been a while, but circumstances withheld me from answering earlier. I thank all of you for the great input!

  10. Oh and the dog is a boxer. And he's still around at nearly thirteen!

  11. Could this also be Jean Gille of Paris?

  12. Got two of them now.
