    Hi everyone,

I signed up a little while ago but only just spotted the nudge in my inbox suggesting I introduce myself.

I’m Adam, based in the Yorkshire Dales, and I run what can only be described as an eclectic shop. There’s a fair amount of mid-century furniture and collectables, a good share of Edwardian, Victorian, and late Georgian pieces, plus a few cabinets of jewellery. At the other end of the timeline, I deal in antiquarian and manuscript material — my main specialism is the Near East and South Asia, ranging from 800-year-old handwritten manuscripts to lithographs and early prints.

Given the above, if anyone has questions on 20th-century furniture or manuscripts, I’ll happily chip in where I can. And if you’re strong on jewellery and silver collectables, I’ll be very glad to learn from you — that’s an area where I’m still finding my feet.

Looking forward to joining more conversations here, and wishing you all health, happiness, and plenty of good finds.

    Adam

    Welcome Adam !
Perfect time re: modern furniture !
Where can I find some ? (no 2025 IKEA pls)

PS- 'Emojis' :);)) help clarify your intentions if you attempt being in any way-'tongue in cheek'.Clearly telegraphing your meaning here helps.
Also should you say, post a pic of the 'Sistine Chapel' or the 'David', always mention that you don't actually own it, but are just using it as an example-some folks (kid you not) get a bit confused here on occasion;).
PSS-That said, empirically we've got the highest IQ level on the Web.

    Welcome, Adam.
You can explore our jewellery and silver forums, I'm sure you'll learn a lot. And maybe get too overwhelmed or confused to find your feet.;)

I'd guess it's one of the more enthusiastic 'Joolie' forum sections on the web. They'll do their absolute best to solve your jewelry mysteries.

Eclectic is a magic word here; we're junque junkies and there is always room for one more. As for joolies.. (hand raised) enthusiastic about covers it. The are also some paper and written word addicts, and some furniture wallahs are... enthusiastic covers them too. Welcome!

I can think of a few who would love to chime in on silver bits and Asian paper bits. My personal weakness in furniture is craftsman-era design, but I wouldn't turn down a Georgian desk for its habit of eating crackers.

I was going to post a few pics of the shop, purely as an introductory note, but was mindful of the forum rules against self-promotion. Happy to post some pics here and there whenever anything amazingly beautiful or amazingly weird comes into the showroom.

No, not for the purpose of selling, just an intro to myself and local setting. Here are a few pics.
    Thanks, Debora.

:bookworm: I don't think my IQ will add much here! Good to know about ownership, so let me begin by putting it out there, for clarity's sake, that as a Brit I don't own the British Museum or Tower of London, though I am open to the idea :angelic:.

I do have a number of Ikea pieces. Some of their classic design pieces from the late 20th century are beautifully conceived of and executed; a tradition they should really revive. Anyhow, nice to meet you. Adam

I have been learning much already from those sections. As for my feet, they are perpetually confused. Thanks for your message. Adam

Beautiful shop and part of the country. Lake District and National Landscapes look close (in US distances).
PS-Glad I stipulated 2025 IKEA, wouldn't toss one of those '58 Cavelli armchairs.
