Jumble finds, real pearls, metal not magnetic, feel heavy, haven’t tested for gold but thought possible. It’s the posts that concern me as there’s no recess for the wingnuts, the pair with the butterflies are thicker near the ends which I thought odd, how would they stay put? Any info please, thanks.

Those are threader earrings. The bars go through the piercings and you pull them through so they dangle behind the earlobe. The chain part rests inside the piercing.
Doesn't look too comfortable with the butterfly earrings:nailbiting:, but I guess that is the same system, maybe to wear through hollow earplugs.

I haven’t come across them before! Thanks AJ. Looks as if the chains would need cleaning more thoroughly than regular posts.
Testing has been a bit inconclusive so I’ll let my jeweller decide if he wants them.

I don't have holes, but those all look far too heavy to go through a hole in your actual ear. If they're a lot smaller than they look, they still look uncomfortable. If they're threaders, melting might be the sanest thing you can do.

Nah they're not bad at all. I didn't notice them unless i swung 'em about too much but they didn't hurt. Only real issue is that if you have your hair down, these type are more likely to get caught up than normal dangles.

I was once in a pediatric ENT’s office with one of my kids. A little girl no more than 2,was being literally dragged by her mother, once the mother decided to pick her up when she hoisted her on her hip the little girl was not balanced and went to grab onto anything it was the mother’s ginormous hoop earring & hair it split the ear lobe, I knew what was coming for that poor kiddo next. We were called in next & I reported it to the doctor. He was appalled & called the cops. It was to say something I will never forget. Long earrings around long hair & kids not a good idea. But I was kind of thinking maybe she will think twice about dragging her kid around by her arms.

One would hope. Probably beat the kid instead and learned nothing, but we can hope.

Good! And thank you for standing up for the little girl.
I hope the mother learned a lesson, although some people never learn.:(

She was removed in cuffs…not pretty ones either. The child taken to Dept of Children & Families. But that dept is a very large joke. Kind of a known fact here.

She couldn’t blame the doc, he was in with a patient. I & 1 other parent watched it from beginning to end. I was in the process of getting up & grabbed my son to get someone’s attention at the desk- yes they were not looking into the waiting room.

These days they're so overloaded they barely have time to look.

I bet she blamed the doctor anyway; it was his office and she was karen's eviler and more stupid sister.

This was about 30-32 years ago! It was actually in a major teaching hospital down here. Unfortunately, it was also not the last time he & I witnessed abusive parenting in that very same hospital. I will never turn a blind eye to any form of abuse.

Yes, sold them along with the Egyptian earrings on the Finds forum minus the two little pearls that I asked the jeweller to snip off for me.
