Hi all. Been digging around the house since I dont have the freedom to run the roads what with mom and all. The positive thing is Im digging out things I have no recollection of ! I dont know where when or how I got this. I think it looks older, but I suck at dating anything oriental ! The lack of any mark puzzles me as well. Any input is always appreciated .

The base on the Imari (style?) one looks odd to me, but Imari is not my forte.
    Fun isn't it!
I know the feeling, I have been going through my ethnic jewellery collection to sell 'stuff' on a specialized site. "Oh wow, do I have that too?":jawdrop::hilarious:
Lovely. I have its antique twin.

Very pretty. I can pretty much remember where I got things from and even what the room looked like at the estate sale.
But some items, I can not remember where it came from.

I think it's imari. Just a modern take on it. Ive seen similar mark in the backs of plates before.

Sometimes I can map the room where I found it, and point to the house. Other times... pffft. Good luck. I may have forgotten about somehing, but once I dig it out 'oh yeah, it's from a sale in XYZ..." (LOL) My brain is good for totally useless information like that.

the imari(ish) one looks japanese with that impressed type base (had a few with that type) and would put it late 19th to early 20th

its great finding old finds as you kind of treat them as free (so not so concerned about profit over sale

Truth be told, I wish I could go back 15 years when I was running to every estate sale and garage sale. It was so much fun and I loved exploring the goodies for something to bring home and sell.
Those were the good days indeed.

I wish I could go back that far, or 20 years ago when the previous generation was all moving to Florida and having estate sales left and right. There were also three synagogues having annual rummage sales and a bunch of churches that don't even exist any more. Now...good luck with that.

The neighborhood tag sales in those same neighborhoods are all kid stuff. If there are any at all.

I remember the absolute treasure trove St Pete was in the 80s-90s. We used to joke when we heard an ambulance 'Here comes another estate sale" ! I didnt say it was a good joke ! But oh if I could go back Id have bought so much more than I did. And I bought plenty ! My poor late partner who wasnt particularly interested in Antiques would just roll his eyes when Id drag something in . And thrifts back then were $1-2-3 all day long . Sigh.

I always say "mille fiori" instead of 1000 flower design. Sounds so good in Italian, LOL. The imari is marginally imari and possibly made in China. Early 20th c I think, but late 19th is also possible. Danged difficult sometimes to date these mass imported wares.
