Just found this 3 ft high woven fish trap. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes-most cultures have probably had their own versions for fishing.
This form looks like what's termed a 'bubu'- 'a type of portable fish trap usually made from rattan, bamboo, or palm leaf midrib, commonly found in maritime SE Asia ( Brunei,Indonesia,Malayasia & Madagascar)'.
This one's woven of very fine branches, probably for art gallery tourism ?

Sure looks like finely split bamboo to my unskilled eyes, Bosko.
It is a lovely find, whatever the material...much skill obvious in design (probably culturally-deep) an' execution. Thanks!

Thanks very much all ! The craftsmanship blew me away. I investigated other 'bubu' online (there's pages & pages of 'em), and the workmanship in this one really impressed me.
Yep Komo-IMHO never used (or even touched water ?).

Truly counterfeits ? The amount of info online (accurate or not) of authentic & knock-off high-fashion items is mind boggling-may even come close to equaling the amount of political and porn sites ?

Wouldn't mind finding my 1968 Levi's lined Truckers Jacket, but $200-$300's a lot of picking pennies for me !
Oh well, aside from that capital 'E' and button backstamps- the new ones are actually still pretty close.

Why Are Jeans In Abandoned Mines Worth $100,000?
This denim hunter's got a show about it-and he goes to some risky lengths to find ancient Levis !

tis an interesting world we live in right. didn't realize they went that far back, but suppose its like the equivalent of a 1st edition book (them first pairs)

wonder if levis were ever issued to inmates, cause some of that old denim gear (that has survived) look super cool now

you get a decent natural fade in denim ands its sooo cool looking

Kids'd wash em once when I was a youth-and that was it. You took em off after school and propped them up in the corner !
