But. Since I started the thread, and I'm the father of two boys, I can and will concur--- learn some aim, why doncha!?! Years and years of pee in the floor.... Geez!

Last Friday, my wife and I took our younger of two sons to college. We are now officially 'Empty Nesters.'

I know some of you have had the same experience. For us, it's 95% positive. Our first son grew up massively once he left for college. All positive. Our second son needs--like, really needs-- to do the same.

After we dropped him off, we came home and split a bottle of champagne! Let's go!

May the hormones settle and the maturity take over rapidly for him. :D Or at least he needs to learn to lie to y'all really well. :bag:

Not really. We have a happy routine-- I'll go to every thrift store from here to Timbuktu, she'll politely say, 'Oh, what'dya find?'

    Works well.

Going back to the painting ~ decent facial expression for a naive work . . . what one would see from a person reading. Looks like mildew/mold starting on it's reverse - it can happen so quickly when paintings are stored on a cellar floor. I recently came upon five nice 1930's paintings ruined with mold due to about 20 years in a basement.

I live dangerously so I would probably lightly wet a rag with white vinegar and give the back a wipe. You're supposed to be careful with things that can possibly wick into the canvas, but mold has to be dealt with and the gesso should be a good barrier i would think. :nailbiting:

@Potteryplease welcome to the world of empty nesting. They do mature when they leave some faster than others. Patience, before you know it they are no longer the kid you took to college. Congratulations & welcome to our empty nesters club!

It not only stays clean, your grocery bills goes down, way less laundry, and way less gas is used! As does your utility bills! Our hearts however increase with worry, especially when one of ours did a semester abroad in Israel. You have given him the tools, now you get to witness how well he uses them! And way to go, 2 off to college, in this day & age is what I call AWESOME parenting skills..

Thanks so much @NanaB!! Definitely some anxiety, but it's tempered by the even larger conviction that this what he needs, in all its ups and downs, to become more fully adult. I certainly had ups and downs, as did my wife, our older son, everyone. That's how it all works!

    I appreciate your comments!
