Hello this is Carman...first, I'd like to say how much I have been enjoying this forum... everyone has been so friendly and helpful! This is wonderful, thank you! I am hoping to find out information about this framed piece. My uncle (who is no longer living), truly respected and appreciated Native American art. This picture belonged to him but I have no idea of its history or where or when he acquired it (he passed away over 35 years ago). It has been safely stored in my family's home for many years. I have tried to research it in the past but have been unsuccessful! The picture itself (not including the mat) is 13 1/2 inches by 10 1/4 inches. There is a signature at the bottom on the left side as you are looking at the picture. I would love to find out more about this item...such as, meaning of the owls and other parts of the picture, what tribe is represented, name of the artist, etc. Note: "I think" it is a painting (not a print), as under the glass I can see some "texture" and it looks a bit glossy. Thank you! owls in frame.jpg owls sig.jpg owls close.jpg

Wow...you are right! I checked out the links you sent as well as googled Pote online. One of the links you sent even has a very similar "owl" in the picture. And, it looks like he did do at least a few paintings with Native American themes. I found a picture online of a color drawing he did of a "Native American Chief." I looked at several of his signatures on other pictures online and they appear to match the one I have. Actually, this all makes sense because my uncle travelled a lot to Asian countries on business and so maybe he purchased this in Thailand. I would still love to know more about the meaning of the owls, etc.! Thank you SO much!
