Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right forum!

I have these 2 black suede purses, they are lovely but the black comes off on my hands and any cloth I wipe them with. Needless to say I can't sell them if they do that!

Before I try the suede cleaner I bought, a spray cleaner I got at the shoe store, does anyone have advice for me?

    Thank you!!!!!!!!

I agree, but is there anything I can do about stabilizing it, that's the question!

I have a purse that did that. I brought it to an old fashioned shoe cobbler. He sprayed a protectant on it & brushed it, & brushed it. It was on my leather seats (which he also got out). With a promise I would not use in humid weather or any rain or snow & use a suede brush & keep it dry.

Oof running dye is a tough one. I think brushing in suede protective spray is the common answer.

    Thank you both!

The cleaner I got says it "cleans and renews all colors" but nothing about being a protective spray. Maybe I'll try it under one of the straps and see if it helps. If not I will google and try to find the right product.

I'll let you know how it goes :)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Nice purses! I hope you find a way to stabilize the bleeding dye.

@Marie Forjan if you can find a shoe cobbler, they can be your night & shining armor for things like this! I wish mine was still around. He worked so hard for so long too send his kids to college & not one of them took over his business or learned his valuable trade.

No go, they only had products for smooth leather.

I did find a cobbler, he tried a spray he had and it dodn't work. He advised me to use them only when wearing black :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I will order stabilizer online as a last ditch effort, will report back.

Oh no! I wish I knew what he had used && I really wish one of his kids had taken over & learned his skill. I trusted him with my good purses, he fixed a Louis Vuitton Wallet & the tote bag that was my Grandmothers for me after sending it in for repair that did not last.
