Featured Imperial German WWI small war flag

Hi all,is this perhaps original of the period? Shows signs of age. At first I thought it was maybe a piece of a flag or even folded? Now thinking it is perhaps a ‘table flag’ The flag image is 21x27cm in size. The circle bearing the crowned Prussian eagle is 8cm across. I should perhaps ‘open it up’ and see (or maybe not,will probably just donate it to charity) Thanks for any comments.

Judging by the size, I think it was probably used on a ships launch, or jolly. It would be interesting to see if there are any of the loop fittings still attached, and possibly a makers name too.
Though this is square, if this was used on a launch I believe this is still classed as a pennant.

 

Deutsch Ostafrika. The flag of the Deutsch Ostafrikanische Gesellschafft is somewhat similar but with stars in the top left corner.

Looks like this one has nothing to do with Africa though.

He does also have a couple of Imperial Naval ensigns, though they are much larger.
