There’s a volunteer at a Charity shop that I have been going to for years. One day I picked up a brooch from the 50p tray, I could see it had some faint marks which could have said silver, Sterling or just metal so I thought I’d take a chance and went to the till. The woman squawked ‘That’s Art Deco, that shouldn’t be in there’! She immediately put it behind the counter. Since then she glares daggers at me every time I go in there as if it was my fault, and even when I’m bringing in things she glares. So I don’t take things in as much any more. I think the brooch might have been a 70s deco copy but I’ll never know and maybe someone who sorted it originally thought it wasn’t period too.

Yup. They make a mistake and you're to blame, even though it happened before you entered the building. There's a lot of that going around.

I saw something on her "cart" already priced. "Oh we can't sell it for that"...and she proceeded to mark it 4x what it had been. I called her on it and was asked not to return. I was asked to leave on Tuesday, after allowing myself back in a week earlier (after a month+ away), because "Jane" was there. She's older than I am, but hasn't learned how to Grownup yet. Tellin ya.

Oh, I'm worse. I play by the rules of honor, ethics, and honesty. I ask basic questions and expect polite answers. Apparently questions aren't allowed if you're me; a random person off the street can ask, but I am unacceptable because I exist.

I've met a few. I find myself just not going in if certain people are on. Depends on the layout of the shop. If I can just lurk in and out without eye contact I might just go for it. I take poo off people in my 9 til 5 job, then I find I'm still getting it when I'm the customer. How does that figure?

If they have nothing of interest I simply walk out. How does taking more Effluvient figure? I believe in the cause and sometimes they get some bangers. Sometimes said female volunteer overprices things and they sit forever, but sometimes another lady does it and I score big.
