Are these chairs Bentwood? Or antique? Tiger oak?
The front legs are straight so it’s throwing me off if it could be Bentwood. I was going to sell for $40 but I’m wondering if that’s way too low. One seat is cracked but repaired.

Early 20th century kitchen or cafe chair. Not bentwood. If you can get $40.00 for them, take it.

They look like they may have been made by Thonet or an imitator. Oak, ca 1910, at least partially quarter-sawn.

I appreciate your replies. The buyer is driving quite a distance to pick up and said twice how excited they are, and it made me wonder if they are valuable (I am selling the pair for $40)
I found similar chairs online from $40-$200 each, so I was at a loss as to the actual value. Thanks again!

Sometimes it is a nice feeling to pass something on to someone who's excited to cherish it, and not worry about every dollar. I wish all my customers were as happy. :)

I have a good friend who buys huge quantities of Bakelite & jewelry & odds & ends. Some she repairs, repurposes & sells. She said it isn't about the price that gets but rather it is getting recycled & going to someone who will love it. She tests nothing which drives me nuts.

On-line furniture prices are often high due to the willingness to ship and catering to people where cost is no object. Rarely do the items sell for asking price, with the buyers bargaining for a better deal. Values are also regional. Here in my semi-rural Midwest location, I would be selling these at retail for about what you are asking but willing to take less. Someplace like facebook marketplace, I would need to be about half that. At auction, I can often pick up pairs of antique chairs for as little as $5.00. I am sure big city prices are higher.
