    I'd take a flyer on 156.....
& the way the stamp collections are so well cared for & cataloged..... there should be value there..
155.... old Christmas-y pins are nice..

I agree with Komo 156 looks good for some silver items.
No 90 looks a bit hefty for a keepsake pendant, not sure if it may be a snuff box, inside looks gilded but rusty on the bottom inside?
No 188, I like the silver brooch with the cabochons.

That's quite an earlier Bonnie Cashin handbag. Fun to see.

I knew the bag was good; somebody else will see it too, who knows what it is. It's already about $150 more than I'd have put on it. (current bid is $150)

Threw a bid on 188 first thing off. That "silver" brooch is Chinese export with a carved lapis center. Top bid on 156 is now me too. So is 170; the third chain up looks like unheralded silver and I love those selenite/gypsum Russian pendants. I put in a bid on the Movado bowl too but someone else outbid me and I'm letting it go. We'll see if I land anything! Normally on line bidding isn't my thing, but pick up is a max of three miles down the road.

I have a hunch the Chinese export is going high. I've been outbid and am not trying again.

I’m curious *which* jewelry lots - ah, I see now, good choices I think.

I’m curious about Lot #87 - Sterling Silver Pendant With Collapsible Mouthpiece ??? Largely because I have no idea what it’s for.

Also Lot #157 - large elephant belt clip - partly just because I love elephants, but partly because I can’t make out the makers marks and I wonder if one of you might recognize it.

The one I’d bid on (if I hadn’t declared a personal moratorium on jewelry acquisition) is Lot #179 - Mix Lot: Earrings & "IN" Sterling Silver Pin. I love the pearls, and some of the other pieces look very wearable.

I think the mouthpiece is for smoking; it usually was something like that.

And.... Casey struck out. Oh well. Somebody with deeper pockets scored, but at least I don't have to pay up.

Outbid, darn. As you said, at least you don't have to pay up.

During Covid, many of our estate companies went from in person to online and never went back. :arghh:

I'm stunned at the prices these online sales realize. 80 percent of the time it's honestly more than Ebay, and (unlike Ebay) purchases come with zero guarantees. You get home and there is a stone chipped in a brooch that the photo didn't show? Everything is AS IS, and often the photos they post leave much to be desired.

I almost never buy on online estate auctions, but I do occasionally peruse photos if a sale is nearby. Three years ago I spotted a Schreiner ruffle pin in one. I don't think they even listed it as "Schreiner" but showed a photo of the back and you could see the mark. I was planning my strategy... honestly I considered going to $800 if I had to.

It sold for $1,395!! PLUS taxes and convenience fees on top. After that I was pretty much done.

Same here I think. Others are somewhat switching over now. Online auctions make for a ton less work, although prices realized are all over the map. The jewelery I bid on could have gone for a lot more in person, because as you pointed out it's riskier on line. You're bidding against end buyers who require shipping and will pay what they have to. The sellers also lot things up, and I may have been bidding against someone who was willing to go to the moon for the bracelet in a lot while I was after a necklace. In person one would grab piece A and the other would grab B and both would go home happy.

At least proper auctions have in-person previews.

yeah...well I sat thru a Seahawk auction once , all afternoon , waiting for a good item near the end of the auction..... I looked it over in person!

When the number came up.... the item had vanished.......

That happens too. It either was withdrawn without notice, or withdrawn by growing feet. I went to an estate sale more than once because of something in the picture, only for it to have grown feet and walked. I was first into the room where it was pictured so it wasn't sold. It just wasn't there. GRRRR.
