Satsuma ?

    Here's another one for the group. No marks. Looks Japanese, crane and butterfly. Cream colored, crane and butterfly in turquoise relief. I'd say Satsuma end of 19th century. 3 1/2 inches high and wide. Appreciate comments. satsuma01.jpg satsuma02.jpg satsuma03.jpg satsuma04.jpg

    Dang. I'm torn. I think it is late 19th c but whether Japanese or possibly British, I'm unsure. Very much aesthetic/Japonisme style and the ground is of ivory/blushware type. Wish there was a mark. Don't think that is moriage but rather applied enamel paste to resemble it or similar.
