Another mystery piece that I have is this small mustard jar. 3 inches wide (3 3/4 incl handle) x 3 1/4 high. Only mark is GERMANY in green. I am looking to date it and any other information on this piece would be appreciated. mustard01.jpg mustard02.jpg

In my humble opinion I'd date to about the first quarter of the 20th century. Pretty fuschia decoration which was a popular in that era. It will be very difficult to pin it to a particular manufacturer. RS Prussia and RS Germany pieces can be found with a fuschia decoration but the mark doesn't match any that they are known to have used. It may have been part of a breakfast set at one time with matching shakers and a tray. There are folks who collect these early mustard jars but they are few and far between.

Yes, with that air-brushed background it is most likely c.1920. It is almost impossible to identify a factory with the simple Germany mark. It would've been applied as after 1891 all export wares had to have the country of origin stamped on it. It may have been part of a condiment set.
