I have what I think is a coin silver art nouveau era pill or powder box. It has a jump ring to wear as a pendant. Probably had a mirror on one side of the interior which is missing now. I'm stumped on the hallmarks which are very hard to make out. I suppose id first need to determine its country of Origin first? Where to begin?

Sweet little box. Coin silver implies made in the US, but as komo suggested it could be European. If so, the marks could be Hanau pseudo-marks (made up marks suggesting assay marks), from Germany.
Maybe not. It looks like the interior is gilded, which usually means it contained something which would eat away at silver. Maybe a tiny snuff box?

    Yay.:)
Puzzling though, they say French and Jugendstil. The marks are not French, but could be Hanau, as suggested by Misfit and myself. Hanau is German, as is Jugendstil.

Well I'm still stumped. I combed over the Hanau marks, French, and German. I've come across nothing that could possibly be close. LOL
I did see that listing on Etsy but its origin as described did not seem definitive to me. It seemed they were confused also

Not all marks are known, so there will always be marks that are not listed in the usual sites or books. I think Hanau is our best bet.
