As there are folks here (@Any Jewelry, in particular) who know more about such objects, I am hoping you can tell me about these recent acquisitions. I see quite a few of the metal panel collars online, everyone saying they are rare, and prices all over the place. So I don't know if these were common in the region, if the Chinese are busy emptying them out of Tibet, or if they are being cranked out somewhere. I feel more comfortable about the beaded gorget.

As always, thanks for any input and opinions.

Neither cheaped out. Instead of brass and glass that's real coral and probably real turquoise. If not it's some other dyed stone, but it's likely real. A brass setting isn't unusual, or fabric either. The jewelers there use what's to hand or what they can afford. I'd guess either Tibet or Nepal.

The first one is Nepali, made by the Newari people of Kathmandu Valley. This type of jewellery is often set with glass in gilded brass, like yours, but the more expensive ones are gold or gilded silver mounted with (semi-)precious stones like rubies, sapphires, tourmalines and pearls.
The deities are usually Shiva or Vishnu.
In this case the protective colours of red and blue overrule the value of the materials. A different way of thinking from us in the West.
Although this type of jewellery is traditional, most pieces are made for export.

The bib is traditionally Tibetan. The last ten years or so have seen a flooding of the market with these bibs, I suspect both the Chinese and the Nepali are to blame. Yours could be a bit older, maybe 1970-90. It would have been made for export though. I have a belt in the same style, which I bought in the early 70s.

So both are beautiful and based on tradition, but never worn by a local. My favourite is the Newari necklace, and I would have bought it too.:)

Thank you. I knew you would have helpful information.

These came from an auction featuring the collection of a couple of "world travelers" which included objects from New Guinea, Indonesia, India, Africa and the Amazon. Many were typical souvenirs, but other pieces were nicer examples of traditional techniques. So I suspect these necklaces were bought in or near their countries of origin.

Very likely. They could have been bought in Nepal or in India.
There is a large Tibetan refugee community in Dharamsala, India, I'm sure you would be able to buy those bib necklaces there as well.
