Just bought this yesterday & even though I'm wary of Asian ceramics-I liked it and for $20,what the heck ?
It's 10 1/2" tall,in perfect shape, and my significant other likes it :D.
How could it be so minty ? Good old Gotheborg gave me this answer-'This (stamped not signed) mark is found on Satsuma sold on US military bases in 1947 to service members, tourist members and relatives'.
Still love the piece, but this is why I'm a committed cheapskate re: things I'm clueless about,(they're legion !).

PS-With my extremely limited knowledge,I'd guess a true vintage Japanese piece would generally have a bit more amber glaze, more and slightly browner craquelure,a painted not stamped signature, plus obviously more ware.
There's prob a lot more indications I'm not aware of (?).

nice piece bosk, i'm glad its got that nice touch of purple and blue to balance it out/or mix it up

I'd call it more of a temple jar than a ginger one

Thanks Chas for the verbiage- i'll do some 'Temple Jar' searching, maybe nail down a dupe ?
    PS-Hats off too to Gotheborg.
