It could well belong to an institution and not a family. Does the ring have any marks?

And doesn't it read "Per Honor Virtusque"?

    Thank you @say_it_slowly !
I don't know why people don't correct that iPhone flip before they post pictures. A long time ago someone posted instructions for phone settings to prevent that in the first place.

Fun fact the ring is size X and nearly 30g so I would think very unlikely it was made for someone’s little finger the way they are meant to be worn in the uk. More likely for the index finger.

    AI says:

The image shows a signet ring with a coat of arms and the Latin phrase "PER HONOR VIRTUSQUE". This phrase translates to "Through honor and virtue" and is the motto of the Scottish clan MacMillan.
    • The coat of arms features a shield divided into three sections.
    • The top two sections each contain a cross pattee, a type of cross with arms that are narrow at the center and wider at the ends.
    • The middle two sections contain what appears to be a sheaf of wheat.
    • The bottom section contains a larger cross pattee."
The London date letter appears to be a lowercase "d"? Perhaps for 2003. If so, the ring is fairly modern and that might help explain the larger size, people nowadays don't seem to wear pinkie rings like they used to.

(Oddly, trying to search "per honor virtusque" and clan MacMillan doesn't appear to support the association...? Anyway, an avenue worth pursuing, I guess.)

    From silvermakersmarks.co.uk:

(No further info is given by the website on this maker but apparently he was still in business in 2003, if your date letter is indeed a lowercase "d".)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Brightened & contrasted......looks to be R J B, with a small 's' near the top right of the R.........I suppose that could be a possible 'K' instead of 'R'.........?
