    H folks

bought this off a guy who sort of does the same thing as me in the area. He paid i think 5 and only wanted 10 just to get rid because of the :stop:;)

i've got a little collection going on now of small winky items, so couldn't resist

presuming silver but no need to test really

be interested to find out a few things though

    so any info appreciated

An aide memoire, probably would have hung on a chatelaine.

wouldn't it have a loop or something if it was supposed to hang off something though ?

It does look like part of a chatelaine, but you are correct. There would have to be a loop. Check all around the edges to see if one broke off. As the sheets are ivory, there will be a challenge selling it.

The sweetest little thing, with beautiful ajour silver.
Could have been carried in a purse rather than on a chatelaine. The chatelaine ones I have seen were even smaller.

Aha, so interesting, so the sheets were wiped down after the week to actually save money on the use of paper

    great article thanks house

Doubt for the purpose of saving money. The woman who owned and carried this was a lady.

Here I thought "winky" was going to lead to something naughty.

    How lovely!
I agree that it's too big for a chatelaine, but was likely carried in a pocketbook and used as a planner. I love the term "aide memoire"... how elegant!

Definitely purse-sized. The sheets inside look like the infamous unsellable white stuff, so no good for sale on the open market. If they are, then there's no doubt the metal is silver. Some lady whose family had a few bucks owned that.
