Featured Beaded head pot stand

Hi all,is this African/Kenyan or perhaps Indian? Looks to be a vintage head pot stand (as per the search results) Not sure what that it’s really used for. It’s 9cm across. Thanks for any comments

East African anyway. Head pot stand would make sense. (pot headstand would not, although no doubt it's been tried.)

 

It may be a "head ring" - a pad used on top of the head when carrying heavy loads. Or, depending on the size, it may be a bracelet (keeping in mind that many folks in non-western cultures have wrists much smaller than we may be used to). Or it could serve as both. It looks very similar to a beaded padded ring brought to my family as a gift by a Sudanese exchange student many years ago.
