Help with signatures on 2 paintings; image search says J.A. Hulbert

    I bought these 2 paintings yesterday at my local thrift store (I went early before my own garage sale was to start!).
    I did a image search that said the man was by J.A. Hulbert and showed a pic of a painting of a similar looking man , but I'm not sure of the signature.
    Even if they turn out to be "factory paintings " like I seem to find a lot, I still like these because they are so interesting & realistic - the wrinkles in the man's face show a map of his life!.
    Are these by J.A. Hulbert? If not can anyone tell me what they name of the artist is?
