I picked this up at a Goodwill recently. It's unmarked and quite large/heavy. I assume it's probably Italian, but even that I don't know for certain and I have no idea on the potential date. Anyone experienced with these pieces?

The antique majolica pieces will have a body underneath the glaze that is pink, blue, green, golden yellow, or cream. Some pieces have a "mottled" undersurface of blue-brown, blue-black. Newer pieces will most likely have a white undersurface.

I bought it at a Goodwill in Portland, OR. Measures out 13" height by 10" diameter at lip, maybe 10 1/2" at widest. Whole thing weighs 9 1/2 lbs. I don't know too much about these other than that the technique covers a wide time period and a lot of countries.

It is French imo, the decoration is too delicate for Italian. Probably made in Rouen, but the 'potties' know more about that.

IMHO, it is relatively new. Could be Spanish or Italian with Portuguese and French less likely. Looks very similar to wares sold in somewhat upscale kitchen shops. But I'm quite prepared to be corrected!

I agree that it is modern. A very nice item. Maybe Portuguese
