This was at a recent sale with other interesting items, and just threw it in with my pile because I had never seen similar. Curious when/where on this. With google image found two Etsy matches of the exact type of necklace, one unsold at $65 and one sold, price not shown. Have you seen this kind of work before? The Etsy auctions called it a "brass crocheted necklace". Wondering if anyone has run into similar. Thanks.

LOL! :wideyed: Thank goodness for thread tools!

I always have trouble spelling the word I meant to write, but skipped looking it up thinking, "I got this." (Now corrected, thanks INH.)

I have seen them done with glass beads, but not metal beads such as those. Described as "crochet rope bead necklace", usually 1920's flapper era.

It's flapper length for sure, and there was something that felt "older" and not machine made about it. Honestly wouldn't shock me if it was older. Thanks.

I appreciate the help with this!

I've seen this done with garnets, made in India. I think those dated from the 80s and 90s. No idea about a metal one.

I have seen the garnet ones as well as turquoise and pink quartz.

Afaik the garnet ones are traditionally Indian, they often have woven silk cords with gold wire and sliding wrapped beads as a closure.

I've never seen any closure at all, and the cord content is up for grabs. I think for export they used whatever was cheap and would work. No gold wire in evidence on the ones made for the West. We dumb Americans didn't know any better, is my guess.
