Something seems to be missing on the top. Any idea what it could have been?

 

Some sort of enameling, looks like.

 

It is mosaic, rather than micro-mosaic, although some sellers would have it otherwise. A little souvenir from the 1970s or so.

Probably a porcelain plaque. These were often in Limoges style, with 18th century lovers or simply flowers.

 

Somewhere around here I have the 1st box. It was my grandmothers and I also think 70s. My Lita loved herself a pill box .

 

Mosaic one might be sixties, I’ve got one ma bought there then. Nice little tourist things.

 

JMHO, I would call it mosaic, micro mosaic has much, much smaller pieces. But like I said, JMHO

 

I would also call it mosaic instead of micro mosaic...if I had still been able to change the post title
