Unknown Flower Mark On English Victorian Silver Vesta Case

Hello All,

I was just wondering if anyone recognised the hallmark on this piece as I have been trying to find something similar. It has full UK hallmarks for Chester but an additional flower mark which I can't identify. Is it some sort of import mark? Thanks in advance for any information.

 

Is your item made by John Millward Banks (JMB stamp)? This maker is known in some instances to mark his items with a forget me not flower.

Could you please post a full photo of the vesta case? Even though you have received an answer to your question it is always a good idea to show the whole piece & all of the marks. Besides, the folks that hang out on this forum love to look at all types of eye-candy.

 

Thank you for your help! Yes it is by him. You learn something new every day as I never realised he used an additional mark. Any idea why?

Such personal additional marks are occasionally seen with hallmarks but there is no reason why a trademark should not be used in addition to the registered sponsor's mark.
